On my walk this morning I found myself grateful for having a day to reflect on my career as a nurse and all the wonderful experiences I have had and will continue to have. I recently helped a neighbor with a wound that he acquired on his leg. I just did what nurses do when someone asks for help, I did a quick assessment, checked the wound, set out a plan for him to care for his wound and sent him home with some bandages and a “call me if you need me.” He called a few days later telling me how wonderful I was that I had saved him a trip to the doctor and he was able to avoid that long office wait. He couldn’t stop telling me how much I had helped him. At first I jut blew off the remarks then I stopped and decided to take them inside and experience how great it was to be able to assist someone who really needed it. I am so grateful to be a nurse.

Share your gratitude about being a nurse.

Share your gratitude today.

I was feeling down the other day and just couldn’t shake the feelings of “woe is me” and as I was looking at a magazine I saw the work gratitude and right away I started listing the things in my life that I was grateful for, and BINGO, I started feeling better.
